AIM OF THE COURSE: The lectures will introduce the basic principles that govern the development of a single cell, the fertilised egg, into a multicellular organism. These events include, among others, mechanisms of cell fate determination, cell-cell signalling, pattern formation and morphogenesis. The course requires strong participant commitment and active contribution to the course by preparing for the lectures beforehand using literature provided and through regular participation. The course is part of the IMPRS-CellDevoSys graduate training.
SPECIAL REMARK: The course will consist of eight lectures and is based on the textbook Life's Blueprint: The Science and Art of Embryo Creation, 2014, by Benny Shilo. We expect the participants to read one chapter from this textbook before each lecture and to send a question related to this chapter to Eli and Jacqui a week before.
