AIM OF THE COURSE: The lectures will revisit basic principles that govern the development of a single cell, the fertilised egg, into a multicellular organism. These events include, among others, mechanisms of cell fate determination, cell-cell signalling, pattern formation and morphogenesis. The course will combine lectures, discussions, and seminars presented by the students. The course requires a strong commitment of the participants to actively contribute by preparing the lectures beforehand (based on material provided) and by regular participation. The course is part of the IMPRS-CellDevoSys graduate training.
SPECIAL REMARK: The course consists of five lectures/discussions (March to April) and two seminars with presentations by the PhD students (June).
